I am installing an IDR connecting 6 class 2000 meters. When I initially hooked up meter #1 with the 8 pin cable the unit powered up. I continued connecting 2 more meters with 6 pin cables provided. The next 3 meters were on a different floor so I ran my own cable. I used RJ-45 connecters and terminated all 8 pins ( I wasn't thinking clearly at the time). I connected these three meters and everything seemed fine. I came back to change the ip address of the IDR about a week later and now the IDR will not power up. I checked the jumpers and tried unplugging everything except the #1 meter. I also tried a new 8 pin cable connected to a different meter with no luck. I find it hard to believe that using an 8 pin cable with ports 2-16 would fry the entire IDR. Has anyone run into this same problem? The next thing I will try is to use an external power source.

Cabling for meters 1 to 8 may all use 8 conductor 8 pin RJ-45 patch cables. The pin out must be the same on both ends (straight through.)
Meter number one (plugged into IDR port number M1) must be no greater than 100 cable feet in length from the meter to the IDR.
Meters 2 to 8 must be no greater than 500 cable feet in length from the IDR.
Please verify above and that the RJ-45 plugs are fully crimped.
