E-Mon Energy Software Training Terms
AMR: Automated Meter Reading.
AMR Schedule: The schedule, or time and dates, which the software will automatically read the meters, and download data from the IDRs to the E-Mon Energy database.
AMR Task: The tasks that the software will perform during the automated meter reads.
Bill Device: The meter(s) that is monitoring the customer’s energy usage.
Billing Template: The template that right energy uses for the bill. It is a spreadsheet that can be modified, and customized.
Connection: The method that the E-Mon Energy software uses to connect to the software Key, and the IDRs
Customer: The part of the database which has the customer information, as well as the meters tied directly to that customer.
Database: The “meat” of the program. Where all the settings, meters, meter info, customer databases, readings, and billing information are stored, added, and maintained.
Device Explorer: The main window component that displays the group, location, recorders, and meters.
Downloading: The act of transferring meter readings, and other data from an IDR to the E-Mon Energy database.
Group: The top of the database hierarchy. A collection of locations.
IDR: See “Recorder”
Location: A location of IDRs and meters monitored by E-Mon Energy.

Rate Table: The table which the usage, demand, and other charges are entered, This is the table that E-Mon Energy uses to generate the bills from.
Recorder: The Interval Data Recorder or data collector. The device that all of the meters are plugged into. Recorders collect and send data to the right energy software when it is downloaded. Also known as an “IDR.”
TOU: “Time Of Usage. “A usage structure that takes into account, the utility companies different billing rates, at different times and seasons, such as Summer/Winter, On Peak/Off Peak, etc.
